Interesting documental

I am going to put that direction. It is a very interesting documental about people with problems. There is a blind girl who explains her case and how is her day as a blind girl. I think that it is a good example of how blind people like my mum life as goos as people who see correctly. we have to give many thanks to the new technologies.

Learning contract

LEARNING CONTRACT

Overall theme
What is the overall theme? What are you going to be working on?

Braille. I am going to learn how to read Braille. The final product will be to read an infant story.
To begin with, we will do a few exercises of touch to differentiate the texturesI am going to practice it with the professional. To do this, I will use some sweaters, shirts that try to recognize themthrough the fabric. I will also use a domino to recognize each card’s numbers and thereby learn to touch and not leave a gap untouched. All this will be done with a mask on myeyes. After having stimulated touch with these exercises I would begin with Braille. Braille is a writing that isdesigned by points. They are six points and combining them by highlighting the interest we can create the entire alphabet, numbers, punctuation marks ...Every night I will dedicate half hour to learning by myself. I willuse a book written in Braille like the old children's nursery “Cartilla”. Each letter of the alphabet, you work within the text matches so helps you to recognize that letter. Texts successively addmore letters.

Justification of the project
Why did you choose this topic/project? Why do you think it is relevant?

This is a subject very close to me. My mother is losing vision. Two years ago she decided to learn to read in Braille. It is an interesting topic because I can find a classroom with a child with visual problems and so I can help. If you have notes I can read Braille and if in doubt I be able to resolve them without the need for ink pass.
I feel very comfortable making this project.
Until now, blind children only had the chance to study in specific centres for them. There is one in Madrid and one in Barcelona. These centres are equipped with all the aida blind or visually impaired may need. Today these is changing and are trying to make blind children study in their environment and integrate them into regular classrooms. So more often we will find children who may have these problems. The fact that the teacher knows readingBraille it is a way to approach the child as theyboth can use the same tools and the child will feel more integrated and it will not be the only one who uses those tools.
If you attend a regular school, he does not feel that your disability makes you different and not far from their family or emotional means. Modifies the attitudes of people about blindness. Facilitates adaptation and suitability to the visual world of the child and allows the seer to accept it.
Further with my mum it is grateful to know her way to communicate by writing. In short, that I can understand their means of communication so that they feel less distinct or even displaced.

Define Objectives of Project
What do you want to achieve with this project?

Personal goals:
1.      Recognize all the letters of the alphabet in Braille and also the numbers.
2.      Improve my touch
3.      Read a short text using mostly touch. To the seer it is very difficult because they haven´t developed this sense. It is so easy to read Braille by sight because the points that are raised and these figures are visible to the naked eye.
4.      Go slowly improving reading speed so that reading is more efficient.
5.      Analyse and identify what the needs of a blind person can be.
Language objective:
1.      Identify my language level and reflect on what I can do to improve it.
Objectives I want to achieve with listeners:
1.      Familiarize children with braille.
2.      Demonstrate that the world is different and not everyone has the same needs.

Decisions
· How are you going to make decisions? Which strategies will you use?
· Which decisions will you make?

Resources:
-Material: The Cartilla to study all the letters, Braille alphabet, Clothes, infant stories written in ink and in Braille and a camera.

-Human: I will meet a professional who helps me learning it.
Before starting the project I reference the path of my mother when Braille study. It's a long learning so between the professional, I help my mother, my mother and I have adjusted the time frame. As we said earlier is an expensive job to learn this so clearly had iva need help learning . Once the professional feel that my mother is able to teach so she will be my career .for me it is much more comfortable because I avoid despalzamientos . I receive classes once a week with professional but then I have to review what they have learned during the week.
This story will be read to a child. I decided it to see  students reaction .
In the blog , a weekly I will explainwhat I learn  during the week and an explanation on the evolution of learning was published.
The greatest difficulty that I can find is to find a story that suits my needs as not all the stories are written in Braille. The blind use much audio to read. Anyway, my mother is an affiliate of the ONCE library so I will go to this organization in whichthey can provide a list of the books they have.

Emergencies/contingencies:
What will you do if...

Set target dates/timeline
When are your tasks going to be due?
How are you going to organize your project?
When are you going to meet your tutor?

1,2,3 and 4 of november:

●          We will start analyzing the information that we consider relevant: reading, watching documentaries, finding important ideas, etc.
●          I will have a look to infant stories to choose the most appropriate.
I will fill the sheet where we collect all the objectives.
I will start with the touch exercises.
·         Create and fill the questionnaire.
Day 4  until 6 of December :
·         In this period of time I will learn one letter per day.
·         Every Friday (8,15,22,29 of November and 6 of December)I will contact the Braille professional, and we will meet to practice what I have learnt. I will write the reflection about how I am progressing. Apart from that I will receive English lessons to achieve my language objectives and improve my English.
After that we need time until the week to practice what I have learned.
·         Days 15,29 and 6 I will record how I read.
13 of December :
●          Rounding up the project, mainly the written part.

20, 27 of December and 3 of January:
·         Read short infant stories.

6 of January :
●          Preparing the video.
●          Doing the recording about what I have learnt about the topic.

Strategies and Resources
How are you going to achieve your aims?

Before starting with learning to read I willbegin with a few exercises to distinguish different surfaces and gradually developing the sense of touch. ThenI will start learning the letters. I will divide the project in different steps. I will make a planning and divide the project. I will follow this timeline in order to achieve myfinal aim.
As the material is a material that has materialized ONCE for anyone wanting to learn this. If I had some difficulty to choose the story as some were somewhat complex but I found one that fits what I have planned that I will be able to learn in this time period.

Verification/Evaluation
How will you prove that you have achieved your aims? That you have learned what you established as a goal initially?

I'll take the infant story written in both Braille and ink. I will try reading all the text in Braille while a professional corrects because shewill have the written version.
During the learning process every week I write a journal where I write a reflection on how I evolve. There will be a recording that will only end in demonstrating how to read Braille. Finally I will conclude with a reflection on how the whole learning process has been.

Decide on video and final presentation.
Which resources are you going to use to create your final video? How and where are you going to upload it?
How are you going to give your presentation? How will it be organized or structured?

In my presentation I will show the final production, which will be a video with the content:
The reasons why we have decided to work this project.
The difficulties I have found
Conclusion/ what I have learnt personally and professionally.

In the final production I will read a litle bit the story to a child.I am not going to read all the book because it is too long. I will get a consent from the parents to record the child.  I believe that it is not necessary to many more recordings because it is a slow process.

Class eleven - 3 of January

Last day of class and I have had problems. The texts that I have to read also reads other people and the points are not noticed as well as in previous ones.

I found it very curious sensaion because this is something that had not take into account.

Now I know when I went to choose the book because I could not choose whatever.

Class ten - 27 of December

This time I held up very well reading by touch but also at the end os the session I wans´t able to read ...

I mentioned my frustration with professional and told me that it is almost impossible to read everything by hand because we must not forget that I am a sighted person.

This means that my touch is not as developed as the blind. Because in everyday life I do not use the touch and I use the view.

Braille text today was 15 lines. Seem few but we must not forget that I am learning to read in an unknown code.

Class nine - 20 of December

This time the text was a bit longer but did not cost me much  because of the daily practice wich strongly favors the sense of touch.

I have a concern that I am not going to be able to read just hand the story of braille. I know all the letters but I feel very tired and I do not feel good points.

At that time, I stop reading with hands and resort to the view. I will read braille by sight. This is a bit frustrating for me because I wanted to read everything by touch but I will continue practicing and hopefully I will progress.

Class Seven- 6 of December

Today finish learning all letras.Estoy very motivated and I'll be able to read slowly though any text. After so many days of training I have to say that since I started the project I notice a lot more on signs with Braille and when I can close my hojos and try to decipher what it says. Every time I get to read what it says is a satisfaction and a sign that I'm doing my job properly. Today parendidas lyrics were: w, x, y, z. I have not had many problems since they are not not very common in the Spanish language letters such as the letter w or x. In contrast, the Y is easy because usually appears alone.

Class six - 29 of november

Only two classes to finish learning the alphabet.

At first it seemed impossible to remember all the points. But it is easier than it seems.

Whenever the number of letters is increasing the sentences are longer .

At the end of class feel like a tingling fingers. After discuss this with the professional she told me that it is normal and I'm not used to crawl. Blind people often have  fingertips much thicker than ours.

Class five- 22 of November

This time we have learned the following letters: n, ñ, p, q.
More and more letters and the feeling that I had was that I´m not going to be able to memorize each letter.
As we move further complicated the issue. Today I tried to read with both hands because the professional told me that in that way they read faster. I have been unable to get it.

The professional told me that it is normal to have that feeling of failure but we can´t forget that I am a sighted person.

Class four - 22 of november

Very similar to the last class we learn five new letters.
In that case:h,j,k,l and m. At the end of that class I feel that this new ones I don´t have as clear as the las five ones.
We are adding more letters and mixing all the time all of them and sometimes I forget some of them I need to practice more.

My feelings - 20 of november

I am reviewing the letters and I think about all of them I didn´t forget any one.

I review everyday 30 minutes and it helps me to don´t forget anything.

To master braille, you must dedicate half an hour to studying and reading. . Thirty minutes of reading will allow you to move quickly and competently through the code.
She told me that she has seen students who complete the entire braille code in five to six weeks.

Third class- 8 of november

At the beginning of the class I feel very good but when the time pass I have my touch tired I couldn´t feel as much as the beginning.

Today we continue with the same method and we introduce those letters:b,c,d,f and g.
I think that this week is going to be a little bit harder because we have to review and memorize 10 letters.

Second class- 4 of november

Second class, we start with a little review of in what consist the 6dot cell. Then she gives me a sheet where appears all the alphabet in 6 dot cell.

I am very anxious to touch a braille alphabet but today I only touched the vowels. The next week we are going to star with the consonants.

First of all I need to practice touching things. I don´t have homework yet but she recommend me to pay attention on the things that I touch and try to appreciate what I touch closing my eyes. It is good exercise to stimulate my touch sense.

At the moment, I can say that it isn´t difficult and I think that it is more to memorize. This class also I get with the professional.

First class- 1 of November

This first class I did it with the professional. The objective is to be able to read the infant story. She gave me three infant story books and I have to choose one. The title of that story is “la boda de amapola y polvareda”.

After that, we start with touch exercises and we did two different exercises.
The first, exercises consist in touching different thing and materials and try to guess what it is. The second one, I have to take a little object from a little bag and guess it. The difference between the first and the second exercise depended on the size.

The third and the last exercise consist on taking a domino piece and guess wich dots are in relief

Before finish that first session she explains me in what consist the 6dot cell. I will explain in a post to be understood correctly.
The entire Braille alphabet is based on this 6-dot cell.

We spend on it one hour the time goes very fast and I am little bit worried because I see that I have to learn too much in a short period of time.

HOW TO READ BRAILLE

After of this process I am  I consider appropiate to explain the method that they use to teach me.

The alphabet, numbers, music notation, and any other symbol that appears in print can be replicated in Braille by arranging combinations of the six dots of the Braille cell. Braille is read by touch, usually using the first finger on one or both hands.

Braille is not that hard to learn. Children who learn Braille early usually become extremely fast and competent readers. Braille is a system of transcribing print so it can be read by touch. Braille is now mainly used by blind people but the original idea was for soldiers to be able to read at night without putting themselves in danger by using any light. This information I get the day that I dedicated 15 minutes to ask curious things.

One way to learn the alphabet to memorise the dot patterns for the first ten letters, a-j, shown by the simulated or inkprint Braille cells below.
The dot patterns for the next ten letters, k-t, are the same as the first ten but with an additional dot in position 3.
The dot patterns for the letters u,v,x,y, and z are the same as the letters a-e with additional dots in positions 3 and 6.

Braille does not have a separate alphabet of capital letters as there is in print. Capital letters are indicated by placing a dot 6 in front of the letter to be capitalised. Two capital signs mean the whole word is capitalizedBraille numbers are made using the first ten letters of the alphabet, "a" through "j", and a special number sign, dots 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Braille is a method of reading and feeling text through touch, rather than sight. It is mainly used by those with impaired vision; however, sighted people can read Braille as well. There are many reasons for this, especially for those with a blind or visually impaired person in their household.

INTRODUCTION

How learning to read Braille people without visual problems? This is a question that many teachers and professors do when they have a student who uses Braille. Therefore, I decided to learn it if one day I have one student with that difficulty.
For people who use effectively the vision is easy to learn. Within a month, you can transcribe view (smoothly, albeit slowly) any written text into Braille comprehensive (no contractions), using the support of the Braille alphabet in ink.
Braille is not that hard to learn, especially when the student is young. Children who learn Braille early usually become extremely fast and competent readers. Children have the advantage over adults - they learn more quickly and expect to make mistakes as they go along. Braille readers can read an average of 104-125 words per minute, although some may reach read 250 words per minute using both hands.
It's time to know how to learn this wonderful language and more or less know what we're dealing with.
First of all, I have to say that everyone is capable of learning the code, but is a technique that involves dedication and respect.
